Generally, if we hear someone saying this line, our first reaction would be, " You guys went to an Escape Room? Oh gosh, that must have been scary"!

Can you decipher the mystery at a scary escape room?

Imagine a scenario like this, 'The door is closing behind you, the timer shouts tick tick tick.' You're not sure how the room is set. Is it weird, dark, and insidious? Or is it well lit, in a familiar setup?

Pieces of information are hidden inside or under creepy cupboards and objects or just lying for you to catch them right. Twinkling letters are written with blood on the wall, spiderwebs hanging off the roof or hanging dream catchers to give a lighter note and a timer counting backward from 60 minutes'.

Haven't things become jittery? Didn't you have a jump scare?

Or are you all calm saying, "Ah, I can handle it?" Aren't your heartbeats making a sprint?

Well, yes, the concept in itself seems to be thrilling. But, where is the fun when you don't feel that trigger in your body? The blood is redirecting towards the muscles, causing a surge in energy or shaking limbs.

The adrenaline is relaxing the airways, which gives the muscles more oxygen. In other words, the adrenaline rush that we experience in exciting situations. - We would never know until we try them out.

I have had this wonderful experience of visiting an escape room recently, and like others, I too had this notion that they'll scare the hell out of me. The arrangement in most of the themes is such that if we don't get out on time, we are dead!

I went with 5 of my friends to solve a mystery-themed escape room. There were hidden clues and riddles all over the room, and we had to solve each of them methodically. We could only get to the next clue if we solved the previous one.

Do you get it?

It was a scary room with some people dressed as monsters to give all the more feel to the whole experience. I know you all must be thinking, "Come on, that is scary."

Yes, the environment is scary, but the experience is rejuvenating because you start to enjoy it after a few minutes, and all you care about is getting out before the clock ticks 60 minutes.

Understandably, people usually tend to link up escape rooms to the word "scary." You know why? They feel that if they don't get to the last key or the last clue on time, they'll be stuck in there forever.

The clock ticking on their head gives them butterflies in the stomach and tingling feet. The mysterious environment makes them overwrought. But guess what?

Those puzzling clues and riddles are to excite you, and the timer is to give you the adrenaline rush to make it or break it! Have you had a change of thoughts?

Escape rooms are similar to the escape buttons on the keyboards, as in, players exit from reality and enter into a mysterious world full of hidden clues, objects, and puzzles.

It is a flourishing game that challenges your brains and how rapidly you can react in unforeseen circumstances.

It's a real-life team game: locked in a room with a theme (like a bank heist, a crime scene, or a revolutionary war battle, and many more), you have to follow a sequence of routes and puzzles to flee from the room.

I tried out a Halloween-themed escape room, and trust me, there wasn't anything to be afraid of! In fact, the "ghosts" had us laughing the whole time with their hilarious anecdotes.

Take a Chill Pill; You Have No Reason To Be Scared.

Every escape room has a theme and a way to get out.

People usually think that there's no way out unless they solve all the riddles, clues, and puzzles if they enter into it.

Well, the good news is, there is always a Gamemaster to help you get out if you're not done on time.

The clock is ticking, and the experience is designed to be thrilling and adrenaline-inducing.

You need not be a Genius.

There may be a notion in everybody's mind that only geniuses can tackle the problematic clues, riddles, puzzles, scenarios, etc., in this game.

It is a known fact that a person would not try something of this sort to end up failing.

If every room were so easy that you escaped every time, that wouldn't be near as fun, would it?

50% of the excitement of going into an Escape Room is that you're not guaranteed to accomplish the tasks in time.

This makes your adrenaline flow, your heart races a bit faster, and your creative problem-solving a bit sharper.

Also, luckily, you don't need a brain like Albert Einstein to look for hints and clues to fix the puzzles in these Escape Rooms. They have different levels of difficulties to cross in every setup.

So, if you're afraid that you're going to fail, you can book the more accessible spaces as each room has a difficulty rating.

Additionally, some people are worried that they'll get embarrassed because they can't solve certain clues.

These rooms are designed for everyone, and that includes you. You don't need to worry about being stuck because, if you get stuck, game masters help you get out.

Therefore, the answer to this question would be "YES."

Escape rooms can be scary initially, but as you progress, you will find it exciting as you will be the one solving different clues in different spaces.

You never know. Maybe you are the one who ultimately makes your team escape out of the battle zone and be the hero of the game.

Why Do People Pay For It?

Did you ponder upon this thought before? If Escape Rooms are spooky and scary, then why do people willingly pay for them?

Even if they seem to be scary, many benefits make it worth the scare. Some of which are as follows:

It activates all the 5 senses.

All of your senses, i.e., touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste, become sharper and super sensitive.

You start to react to the objects present in the environment to which can be of use to solve the mystery. Each sense will help in identifying the right clue at the right time.

It gives you an eye for detailing.

As you begin to absorb this information, your brain will start to take notes of every detail in the environment in a rapid-fire fashion.

Also, when the senses have sharpened, it becomes easier for the team to look into the most minor-details to unlock the clue.

It establishes a detective mind.

You wouldn't want to trust the circumstances in such a mysterious environment, would you?

So, your mind establishes a detective's eye and gets to solve all the riddles and puzzles in the most effective manner.

It kicks in your fight or flight response.

In situations like these, in response to acute stress, the body's sympathetic nervous system is activated due to the sudden release of hormones, making you fight with the situation.

You give in your 100% in solving the problem at hand or your flight (run) from the challenging situation.

It helps you open up and share your thoughts with your teammates

It is a very effective exercise for introverts and those who like to keep themselves closed in a shell, as it makes them open up and give their suggestions to get to the final goal.

Even if you entered the room with strangers, all of you are working to accomplish the same goal. That familiarity that the teammates bring will give you comfort and put you at ease.

It brings immense excitement and fun to your life

If you are bored, you should really try going to an exciting space like the Escape Room.

It not only vanishes away your boredom but also helps you find good friends, makes you sharper and stronger both physically and mentally.

Surprisingly, escape rooms are great for dates too! One of my friends regularly goes on "scary escape room dates" with his wife, and to date, they've tried over fifty horror escape rooms! Couples can learn new things about each other and unleash their competitive side with these scary, fun games!

It assists you in gaining confidence with each clue, puzzle, or riddle you'll solve

Do you get appreciation from your boss or your parents when you do something correctly and on time? Does that make you feel confident about yourself?

This is precisely how you will feel when you can solve the clues one step at a time.

It gives a sense of accomplishment.

In situations like these, the onus is on each team member as everyone plays a vital role in successfully solving the task. This, in the end, indeed gives a sense of accomplishment.

Gradually, through all of these fun benefits attached, you tend to start loving the experience of Escape rooms, and hence, it has become such a successful game in the present times, globally.
