About the experience

Welcome to the Asylum. Recently a group of six paranormal investigators went missing after attempting to research the haunted nature of this long abandoned asylum. This asylum is rumored to be haunted by the patients who once lived there and were tortured by a doctor who used to perform inhumane experiments on them, which led to their deaths. This doctor, Dr. Borden, has been seen recently entering and exiting the asylum for unknown reasons, through a tunnel system located under the building.

You are a team of detectives called in to investigate the disappearance of these paranormal investigators and are convinced that Dr. Borden is responsible. He has just left the facility and you've entered the asylum through the tunnel system. Is Dr. Borden responsible for their disappearance or is he up to something else? Find the evidence you need to convict him before he returns and potentially makes you his next victims…

We had a great time in "The Asylum." Staff were friendly and willing to push you in the right direction when needed. Very immersive with lots of props, sounds, and scares! The only downside to the place is the front waiting area is pretty small, so a little cramped with teams coming in and out.
Great place! I highly recommend The Asylum at Fairfield Hills! Best escape room we've ever done, and we've done a lot of them in many different states!
We visited ERC again in Dec 2019 and played their "The Asylum at Fairfield Hills" with our NBC Live friends. THE STORY We are a team of detectives that were being sent into The Asylum at Fairfield Hills to find out what had happened recently to the six paranormal investigators that went missing. Rumor has it, Dr. Borden might be responsible. We need to find the evidence before he gets back. HIT THE BULLSEYE -Unique story line and great flow throughout with very reasonable puzzles. They were not extremely difficult, but you would always be rewarded with a "reveal". -Love the intensity build up from the beginning to the end as the story develops. The change of scenery was well played. -Props used all felt realistic and a few of them caught our teammates off guard and definitely got some "jumps" out of them. MISSED THE MARK -A few special effects could be added to the beginning of the scenery to create a more mysterious "entry" as currently the space feels a bit wasteful for with the number of puzzles its used for. Might also be great to warn players no need to put hands into or touch the wooden pieces for nails or splinter injuries. -One hint on the wall in the latter part of the game was a bit confusing to us as we were able to solve the puzzle without following what the hint told us to do. So we thought it was for another puzzle. It may help to not have that clue to be written on the wall. -Although it's not really a big issue, but it would be great to see more of a variation on the props used to solve a puzzle rather than using the same device again. -The ending could use a bigger "wow" moment for its grand finale. TAKE A SHOT? The atmosphere of the room was eerie throughout but it's not the horror you'll feel at a haunted house. Since we do have readers ask us this all the time, we just wanted to inform them that there are no live actors in the room. It's a great room to play if you like mystery solving in a horror-genre setting. It would be best if you go with a team of four at least, so all the puzzles could be played without bypassing any of the full experience.
