This was hands-down the best escape room I have ever done. My group was about 10 minutes away from escaping (according to the Game Master), and it was a blast the entire time.
I have done several virtual escape rooms recently (due to COVID), on top of dozens of physical escape rooms before that. Vanishing Act is not only a great escape room, it is definitely the best physical-to-virtual conversion I've seen yet. It's the closest thing to the physical escape room experience that I've gotten in a virtual setting. They have a custom-built webapp for letting players view the room independently, along with an actor physically in the room who can be directed to interact with objects, adding them to the webapp as they are discovered. This lets the players independently look at the puzzles, while still preserving the feeling of being "in" the room (which is lost in some other rooms I've played.) If you're interested in virtual escape rooms, I highly recommend this one. (Note: Some creepy/occult elements, if you're bothered by that sort of thing.)
My friends and I have done a few virtual escape rooms during the pandemic, and we all agreed that this (Vanishing Act) was the best one we had done. In particular, their interface was fantastic. There was a real person inside the room in Seattle, and he had a camera setup that allowed him to explore the room quickly and easily for us via Zoom. We also had an interface where we could explore a 360 degree image of the room, zooming in on some of the important artifacts. And when we discovered a clue, we were sent an image of it that we could examine more closely. The game master also did an excellent job leading us through the game. There was one time when a combination for a lock was supposed to work but didn't right away (the lock was just a little bit stuck), and if we were alone in the room ourselves, we may have thought that we had the combination wrong. But of course, he knew it was the right combination, so he made sure to tug a little harder, and it worked just fine. We also appreciated how well he worked with our requests. If we asked to examine something, he didn't wait for us to say, "Okay, now let's look at the back of the object. Okay, now let's look at the bottom. Okay, now let's look..." He used common sense in helping us maneuver through the room, which it felt like some of the other rooms we've done didn't do well.
